We just adopted our 2nd dog from here. The process was great with very knowledgeable and professional staff that work with all the animals that come through for adoption.

This is a no-kill shelter where many cats and dogs are available for adoption. The employees are very friendly, and can help you choose your new four-legged friend based on your preferences. It is a great place to volunteer as well.

I was told by SPCA staff that I could bring a kitten I had found for an intake. When I arrived at the facility, I was met at the door and told that they could not take “all strays” and was advised to put the kitten back out in the neighborhood it was found in. It will be in the 30s tomorrow. How disappointing.

Slow customer service even with appointment. Their internet was down and the staff member using a laptop didn't know how software package works. She needed a lot of help. However staff was courteous. They forgot to give me the rabies certificate for my pet.

I adopted my baby boy here a few months ago. I had had trouble adopting earlier due to some having age requirements, and as an 18 year old, when they say I can't adopt until I'm 21, my heart sank. The Roanoke Valley SPCA let me adopt at 18, and gave me lots of information on my little guys' background, and history. They also provided me with chip information and signing him up for a lost pets website, and even gave me a $200 off visit to a local vets to get him checked up after adoption. They treated him and myself with the best of care, and were so excited to see a little one adopted. Being able to adopt my Jack was one of the best things that has happened to me, and I am so glad I was able to get him from the Roanoke SPCA.

The people here seem like they don't want the animals to be adopted and are making people that adopt animals very difficult I'm a long time dog owner I had my 2 dogs for 17 years and I feel insulted that they was wanting so many requirements for me. just to adopt a dog I believe they did today they kept a dog from finding a home. They wanted to to this process into a week long event seem to be about the financial gain the the animals finding homes

The staff member stated she could not let the dog off leash. Therefore we could not determine if our dog would take to the new pup. All 3 of the dogs we were shown are still available...one week later. I don't believe the way the meet & greet is currently set up is working. By the way, we adopted our current pup from here Sept 1, 2019 and we got to pick him out. That may be the way to do it again.
